What is Insomnia?
Insomnia is a condition where people have a hard time falling asleep or staying asleep. Insomnia can be caused by many factors, such as stress, depression or anxiety.
Insomnia can have the same symptoms as other sleep disorders like sleep apnea or narcolepsy. It is important to distinguish between different types of insomnia so that it can be treated accordingly.
There are many ways to treat insomnia but it mainly depends on the cause of the insomnia and what works best for an individual’s needs.
What are the Symptoms of Insomnia?
Insomnia can affect anyone – young, old, male or female. The symptoms vary in severity.
Insomnia is a sleep disorder that affects people of all ages, including children and seniors. You might experience insomnia if you have trouble sleeping at night, fall asleep but wake up after just a few hours, or find it difficult to resume sleep after waking up during the night or early morning.
Some people also experience different types of insomnia that may occur in the day and evening hours:
Daytime Insomnia: If you have daytime insomnia, you may have difficulty falling asleep at bedtime and will have problems staying asleep throughout the night. This type of insomnia is often caused by stress or physical discomfort such as pain or soreness.
Night-time insomnia otherwise known as sleep maintenance insomnia is a common type of sleep disorder that affects the quality of sleep. The main symptom is difficulty in falling asleep, which can be long-term or short term. Treatment options are available for people with this condition.
