Diabetes Management

IT’S A PIECE OF CAKE

Our Diabetes management program helps manage your condition with regulations and corrections using Ahara(Diet), Vihara(Lifestyle correction), Oushadha(Medicines) and Kriya(Therapies). Our unique program aims at metabolic correction and activating the functions of internal organs for effective absorbtion of insulin and other nutrients. Our treatments help in reversing your pre-diabetes stage, control your present condition and manage any complications caused due to high blood sugar levels.

Diabetes does not happen overnight – a list of wrong lifestyle choices piles up with genetic and environmental factors that gradually lead us to this. A steep increase in type 2 diabetes in children, adolescents, and young people is noticed – all because of the wrong lifestyle. Most of the time people with diabetes do not show any symptoms or significantly mild symptoms. Later when the blood sugar level reaches 200-300 mg/dl, people start experiencing fatigue, unintentional weight loss, excessive thirst, increased urine frequency, constant hunger, slow healing wounds, and frequent infections.

What is Diabetes?

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by elevated blood sugar (glucose) levels due to the body’s inability to produce or effectively use insulin. Over time, unchecked diabetes can damage various organs, reduce vitality, and lead to serious health complications.

In Ayurveda, diabetes is referred to as “Madhumeha”, one of the types of Prameha (urinary disorders). It is considered a result of vitiated doshas, impaired digestive fire (Agni), and the accumulation of toxins (Ama) in the body.

Types of Diabetes

  1. Type 1 DiabetesAn autoimmune condition where the pancreas produces little or no insulin. Usually manifests early in life.
  2. Type 2 DiabetesThe most common type, characterized by insulin resistance or insufficient insulin production. Strongly influenced by lifestyle, stress, and diet.
  3. Gestational DiabetesOccurs during pregnancy due to hormonal imbalances, often resolving after childbirth but may increase future risk of Type 2.

Our Ayurvedic Approach to Diabetes Management

At Agni Ayurvedic Village, we don’t just manage blood sugar — we correct your metabolism and heal the root cause.

Our holistic approach is rooted in Panchakarma, the ancient detoxification system that clears deep-seated toxins and reawakens the body’s innate intelligence.

  1. Detox & Gut Cleansing – Virechana

The journey begins with Virechana, a gentle purgation therapy that:

Removes toxins from the liver and intestines

Balances Pitta dosha

Clears Ama (toxins) from metabolic channels

Improves digestion and absorption

This enhances Agni (digestive fire), crucial for breaking down nutrients and regulating metabolism.

  1. Colon Therapy – Basti

Followed by Basti, a medicated enema that:

Nourishes and strengthens the colon

Removes residual toxins

Rebalances Vata dosha

Supports insulin regulation by improving gut health

A healthy gut leads to better nutrient absorption, stable metabolism, and efficient insulin utilization.

  1. Hormonal Balance – With various therapies like Takradhara & Shirodhara etc

Mind-body therapies like Takradhara and Shirodhara soothe the nervous system and:

Balance the endocrine system

Activate the pituitary and hypothalamus

Reduce stress and cortisol levels

Enhance sleep and mental clarity

  1. Stimulating Metabolism – with various therapies like Udvarthanam

Udvartanam plays a powerful role in managing diabetes, especially Type 2, where obesity, sluggish metabolism, and insulin resistance are often key issues.

Udvartanam is a specialized Ayurvedic detoxifying massage using medicated herbal powders, applied in an upward direction to stimulate circulation and lymphatic flow. It is especially effective for:

  • Reducing excess body fat and Kapha dosha
  • Enhancing skin tone and circulation
  • Activating sluggish metabolism
  • Breaking down subcutaneous fat deposits
  • Improving insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism

These therapies are key to addressing the hormonal dimension of diabetes and promoting long-term stability.
